One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church

We say this every week in the Nicene Creed, what in the world are we talking about?
In St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, we read: You are the house, whose foundations are the apostles and prophets, and whose coernerstone is Christ Jesus. In him the whole structure is jointed together and rises to be a holy temple in the Lord. In him you too are being biult to become the spiritual sancturary of God. (Eph 2, 19d-22)
In these passages we find the so called four marks of the Church, One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic.
You are the house whose foundations are the APOSTLES and the prophets (apostolic). Apostolic meaning it goes all the way back to the apostles. The apostles themselves learned from Jesus. We should obey their athourity and their teachings (Lk 10, 16 & Acts 2, 42)
and whose cornerstone is Christ Jesus. In him the whole structure is joined together and rises to be a holy (holy) temple. Holy means to be blessed by God. It doesn’t mean that sinners are not in the Church, far from it (Matt 13).
In him (one) the whole structure is joined….What it means to be one in Christ is that we’re all united through our ONE FAITh in CHrist. We have different ways of expressing that faith, this does not mean that, it means spiritually we’re one.
In him you too (catholic) biult to become the spiritual sanctuary of God. Cathlolic meaning universal. Everyone’s invited. Not just people of one race. EVERYONE!!!!!, spread all over the world (Matt 28, 19).
The great thing about the Catholic Faith is that it comes to us from JESUS himself, NOT A BOOK!. In which Jesus passed it down to the apostles. Which comes to us today through the teachings of the Bishop of Rome (Pope Benedict XVI) and the faith today is exactly the same as it was 2000 years ago.
Amen!
