Thought of the day

a. I very often say that I’m not a man who abides in the party, but in the philosophy of how the matter is done. That is to say if you’re going to hold any position it ought to make sense, and you ought to be able to articulate such a belief in a clear and coherent manner.

An example of what I mean for example is political philosophy.

Some people want to raise taxes on the rich. Okay, fine, fair enough, you’re allowed to have that opinion. But is it not a contradiction to be pro-abortion and hold to the position of raising taxes? If you did want to raise taxes would you not want a larger tax base to pay taxes towards whatever needs you have? Also, while we’re on that point, would you not want to promote policies that reward success? More rich people = more money according to your philosophy, ergo, you should be trying to promote entrepreneurship and the growth of more businesses that make money so you can tax them. (Which will leave you in the contradiction to your premise, because in order to promote business you’re going to have to lower taxes and loosen some of the environmental worship laws on the books)

It’s not that being towards the left is intrinsically evil or anything, it just makes no sense, lol. I’m just saying if you’re going to believe something, it ought to make some sense. I can not be apart of something that makes no sense, reason is very important to me.
